NEWS & NOTES
3D network, or as part of another
NMEA 2000 system.
Each instrument utilizes
standard NMEA 2000 DeviceNet
“Micro” Connectors and has
extremely generous display areas
that feature special OLED lighting,
which increases “viewability”
in low-light conditions. Power
consumption is less than 0.1 amp
on 12VDC. The FI- 50 units have
an automatic backlight sensor that
minimizes power consumption by
FI- 50 instrument series
switching the backlight off during
the daytime and then turning on
bright backlighting for better
viewing of the display when
ambient light fades.
The FI501 Wind displays
apparent and true wind angle in
both analog and digital formats; the
FI502 CH Wind provides detailed
wind bearing measurements from
60 degrees port to 60 degrees
starboard. The FI503 Digital
displays digital data that’s critical
for navigation, such as water
depth, speed over ground, air and
water temperature, wind speed,
and other atmospheric weather
data, in a three-way split screen.
The FI504 Multi is a large,
segmented LCD that provides
monitoring of all network data,
using alternating data displays that
rotate in three-second intervals.
The FI505 Course Plot provides
a digital compass readout with
an analog “off-course” needle
that assists the helmsperson in
maintaining the desired course.
The FI506 Rudder shows precise
rudder angle information when
connected to an autopilot.
