by Crest Foam Industries, which
has introduced a new “greener”
formula for the cushions’ material.
The foam that creates the cushion
effect for your tush is made from a
soy-blend polyether-polyurethane,
making this a more natural
product than previous versions.
This reticulated foam padding is
not only resistant to mold and
mildew because of the “
Ultra-Fresh” additive inside, but it also
holds shape better than a fiber-padded cushion, according to
the manufacturer. Cushions are
available in densities of 1. 2,
1. 5, and 1. 8 lb. per cubic foot,
depending on the level of plush
you’re looking to sit on.

BULKHEAD CONNECTOR
When I worked as a marine
mechanic, I was often tasked with
pulling wires, hoses, and control
cables through bulkheads. It was
always a challenge to carry out
this job in a neat, orderly manner
while ensuring that chafe and
damage would be kept to a
minimum during the installation
and after the vessel was in service.
Cutting, sanding, or filing a radius
into each hole or making a chafe
guard from split hose helped, as did
liberal applications of sealant. But
none of these options created a
good seal, and they often turned
out looking less than professional.
