MARETRON EXTENDS NMEA’S
RANGE
If you read last month’s electronics
column about a NMEA 2000-based
electronics refit using Maretron
sensors and cabling, you might be
interested to know the installer was
working within some limitations,
albeit they really only apply to
bigger boats. For example, the cable
“backbone” could not exceed 200
meters, there could be no more
than 50 nodes or junctions to the
various sensors, and read-outs and
the “drops,” or connecting cables
between nodes and devices, could
not exceed a cumulative 78 meters.

The new Economy line, with
plastic housings, is offered in five
