an extended four-day show, will
take place Oct. 6–9 (Trawler Fest

Diego will take place Nov. 10–12

Oct. 8 at 10:30 a.m. His new book,

Finest Hours: The True Story of the U.S.
Coast Guard’s Most Daring Sea Rescue,
is currently optioned to be made into
a major motion picture produced
by the team that created the recent
award-winning movie, The Fighter.
Finest Hours tells the story of an
accident off the coast of Cape Cod,
Massachusetts, in February 1952
when the Pendleton, a 500-foot-long
oil tanker, split in half. Tougias will
discuss the life-and-death drama
of survival, heroism, and a series of
tragic mistakes. The presentation
will include slides of the storm and
the story of the Pendleton. Tougias
will also lead a discussion Saturday
afternoon and will be on hand for a
