their attention.
And before I forget, the Explorer books are not just

detailed descriptions of points of interest at each island

Lowrance In The Baja
The last time I was in Baja waters, the electronic
charts on my charter boat were as much as a mile off in
places. In my mind, the available cartography for all 700
nautical miles of the Baja Peninsula and the Sea of
Cortez were suspect. Lowrance recently announced that
it had released new and accurate Nautic Insight charts
for this popular West Coast destination for cruisers and
fishermen.
Lowrance Baja cartography was developed in
partnership with Baja Direction, creator and publisher of
leading fishing charts for southern California and Baja
California, Mexico. It incorporates data from Baja
Directions paper charts and Mexican Hydrographic Office
data as well as point-of-interest information about marinas
and fuel docks, fishery profiles, and tides and currents.
Lowrance Nautic Insight HD Baja, priced at $169, is
available from Lowrance dealers and distributors
throughout the United States and Canada. Electronic-and paper-chart combo packs are also available directly
from Baja Directions and Baja-area retailers. It is
particularly apropos that Lowrance should take the lead
in electronic charting for this region of Mexico since its
multi-function displays and radars are manufactured in
