BEEFIER BROADBAND RADAR
Navico’s BR24 Broadband Radar is
known for its ability to display close-
by targets that other radars cannot
see, and with a high degree of detail.
The next generation of this
technology, so far only available
through Simrad, Lowrance, and
B&G, ramps up the power for better
detection and display of things farther
away. It’s called Broadband 3G Radar,
and it uses the same frequency

sweeping technology that
differentiated the BR24 from
conventional pulse radar.
According to Navico, the 3G
develops two-times greater RF
transmit power and 30 percent more
range and target detection than the
BR24, allowing boaters to see objects
such as small boats and channel
markers at greater distances “without
compromising its exceptional close-
range radar capacities.”
The Simrad version of the 3G
has a retail price of $1,699. Visit

The first yachts, both ocean
capable, are in production in China,
with launch expected in March, 2012.
Bering Yachts, in business since
2007, has launched two other yachts
for customers. The new European

said it is following guidelines of the
American Boat and Yacht Council for
the B50, which will have a cruising
