Nobeltec uses its PhotoFusion technology to place satellite imagery
of shallow water characteristics onto a navigational chart.
No matter what charts customers choose, they won’t
need a “dongle.” The dongle, perhaps the least loved
Nobeltec component, is a USB memory-stick device
customers must insert to unlock Nobeltec features on their
PCs. Trident achieves the same security electronically, so a

A low-noise block down-converter, or LNB, is a satellite
dish component that’s essential for getting programming
transmissions into your TV receiver. On your home set,
it’s the bulb in front of the dish. It’s the same with a
stabilized marine antenna, but both the dish and the
LNB are beneath a dome. The big news from Intellian
( www.intelliantech.com) is that it has developed an
LNB for its new s6HD system that is unique in its
ability to multitask.
The stabilized s6HD locks onto and processes signals
from three satellites simultaneously, two in the Ka band
and one in the Ku-band spectrum. Intellian’s LNB is able
to achieve this because of two proprietary technologies,
the Wide Range Search algorithm and Dynamic Beam
Tilting, referred to by the initials “WRS” and “DBT.”
“The DBT function is done by a spinning disc reflector
that is slightly off level. The effect of this is to ‘wobble’ the
