INTRODUCING
THE CUTWATER 26 AND 28
Fluid Motion LLC, designers
and builders of the popular line
of Ranger Tugs, has just launched
the Cutwater 26 and Cutwater
28—trailerable pilothouse cruisers
designed for optimal stability, speed,
and fuel economy.
Designed by Dave and John
Livingston, owners of Fluid Motion,
both models feature the “Keel
Stepped Hull,” a blend of a semi-displacement hull shape with reverse
chines and a keel aft to provide
superb handling and performance.
The single diesel engine is mounted
low in the hull, made possible by a
high-pressure bump in the hull,
contributing to a low center of
gravity. Combined with the prop
pocket farther aft, this feature keeps
Cutwater 28
the Cutwater’s draft at just 28
inches and creates a shallow,
6-degree downward shaft angle for
more efficient output and greater
fuel efficiency. Both Cutwater
models come standard with bow
and stern thrusters for ease of
operation and maneuverability.
Reliable standard equipment
and a practical interior layout
make the Cutwater 26 and 28
multipurpose designs for inland
and coastal cruising. The functional
cockpit includes aft seating with
storage underneath, and boarding
access via a molded-on swim
platform. A standard Yanmar
diesel engine (a 180hp 4BY2 in
the C26; a 260hp 6BY2 in the
C28) is housed under the cockpit
sole, flanked by belowdecks
compartments that can store
