A BIGGER, BEEFIER BERING 55
We introduced you to Bering
Yachts’ first 55-foot steel trawler in
our October 2009 issue. Then, as
now, the appeal was the strength
and durability of a boat fabricated
according to ABS regulations, with
great care for a smooth, yacht-inspired finish.
Following a nine-month build, the
newly revised Bering 55 hull number
two, built for a European customer,
was launched on July 15 from the
yard in mainland China. She made
her maiden voyage to France to
participate in the Cannes boat show
in early September. Construction on
hull number three is slated to begin
this fall, and the yacht will head to
the United States next year, to be
offered by JW Yachts’ Judy Waldman.
“Hull number two is an evolution,”
said Alexei Mikhailov, president of
Bering Trawlers. “She has a longer
waterline, wider beam, and a 100
percent increase in usable deck space
on the flybridge. And she is CE-
certified Class A, no restrictions
offshore, for up to 10 people.”
