THE Z38: NEW AND IMPROVED
Zimmerman Marine recently
introduced an improved version of its
well-known Z36. The new Z38, also
designed by Spencer Lincoln, is 38
feet long, has a 13-foot-3-inch beam
( 6 inches wider than the Z36) and a
draft of 4 feet 3 inches, and displaces
20,000 lb. The newer hull will be
more efficient, providing better fuel
economy at the same cruising speeds
as the 36 and a higher top speed.
“Over the years, we’ve seen more
systems of all kinds being installed
on cruising boats, so the increased
interior volume and freeboard of the
Zimmerman 38
new Z38 is designed to accommodate
the added weight and space
requirements,” said company
President Steve Zimmerman. “In
addition, a centerline queen berth
now fits comfortably in the forward
stateroom, replacing the V-berth.”
Exquisitely joined cherry interiors
and cabinetry are hallmarks of every
Zimmerman yacht. The main saloon
offers 6 feet 5 inches of headroom and
is surrounded by numerous fixed and
opening windows for an abundance
of natural light and ventilation.
Cruising speed is 8—20 knots.
Zimmerman Marine offers its
Downeast semi-custom yachts in
31-, 38-, and 46-foot lengths. For more
