GYROSTABILIZED PORTABLE
SATELLITE TV ANTENNA
King Controls, which makes
mobile satellite antennas for both
the marine and land markets, has
introduced the VuQube VQ4000
portable marine satellite TV antenna
with marine stabilized tracking
capabilities and compatibility with
Dish Network, DirecTV, and
ExpressVU programming.
I haven’t used one yet, and
I’ll admit that there are times
when I want to escape television
programming completely. But
there are also those times when
the visual being within me must
have stimulation, which is why
this unit intrigues me. Designed
VuQube VQ4000
for use at anchor or at the dock,
you place the VuQube antenna
on the deck of your boat (or in
an optional mounting bracket) and
connect a single cable to the control
unit to power the antenna and
provide a satellite signal to your
receiver. The VuQube offers one-
touch satellite acquisition and
automatic satellite switching,
just like those more expensive
fixed-mount antennas.
According to the company,
the simple plug-and-play
design sets up quickly, is easy
to use, and does not require
professional installation or any
special tools. The lightweight,
compact dome measures 16
by 17. 5 inches and weighs
about 10 lb.
VuQube model VQ4000
from King Controls has a
suggested retail price of $2,295.
