software product that will run on a PC and also includes
software for use with a Pocket PC. Memory-Map has
removed several of the licensing requirements from
its newest version, and the program now provides
a fair amount of functionality as downloaded without
purchasing a license. Some features, such as printing
a chart, connecting to the company’s database, and
obtaining support for use with a Pocket PC, still require
that you purchase a license, but the PC-compatible
software basically is fully functional charting software.
As downloaded, Memory-Map Navigator is compatible
with NOAA RNCs and several other chart formats. GPS
specific locations and automatic sequencing that takes
all the work out of dealing with individual raster charts.
Zooming with the mouse wheel and dragging objects
or the whole chart with the cursor makes short
work of moving about on the display. Memory-Map
Navigator runs on Windows 2000, XP, and Vista, and
its performance is everything you would expect from a
well-constructed commercial software package.
NavGator Mariner 3.0
Mariner 3.0 runs on Microsoft ME, 2000, XP, and
Vista and uses NOAA RNCs. A Linux version is

tracking, routes, waypoints, and most standard charting
features are enabled, including such niceties as night colors,
superimposed layers with user-added data, and split-screen
windows that display two charts simultaneously, in sync if
desired. Documentation is included, and chart handling is
first rate, with multiple options for selecting charts at
available for Fedora and Mandrake distributions.
Mariner 3.0 features a unique build-it-your-way display
that can be configured in a variety of manners, with
multiple instruments and chart viewer windows. Other
features include anchor and GPS alarms, user-created
marks, and GPS position tracking. Chart handling is
