PASSAGEMAKER EVENTS UPDATE
T
he New Year is here, and the
PassageMaker Events team is geared
up for the exciting schedule that
2009 has in store. As this issue
was going to print, we were busy
registering enthusiastic new
attendees for PassageMaker
University and Trawler Fest in
Stuart, Florida, at the Hutchinson
Island Marriott Beach Resort &
Marina. The event promises to be a
busy one, with five PMU courses, 30
seminars, more than 50 marine
exhibitors, and our afternoon and
evening activities.
We are thrilled to start the year
with this event, and we’ll bring
you a full update on its success
on trawlerfest.com and in the
next issue of PMM.

TRAWLER FEST SAN DIEGO
We’ll head to the Kona Kai Resort
and Marina on Shelter Island in San
Diego Feb. 24–28. California’s
second-largest city was a natural
choice as Trawler Fest’s newest
venue, with its idyllic climate,
fabulous coastline, nautical culture,
and endless possibilities for activities,
dining, and accommodations. Our
hosts at the beautiful Kona Kai
are just as excited as we are to
experience this niche boating event
in San Diego.
The schedule kicks off Feb.
24 and 25 with PassageMaker
University, offering the following
courses: Electrical Basics For The
Boat Owner, Women-Only Boat
Handling And Seamanship, and
Ship’s Systems From Stem To Stern.
We’re also pleased to announce
a brand-new half-day course.
American Diesel Corp.’s Bob Smith
will present Diesel Engine 201: A
Theory And Refresher Course from
1: 30 to 5: 30 p.m. on Feb. 25. Bob
has been a staple at Trawler Fest
for years with his popular Diesel
Workshops. Having received
repeated requests from attendees
for a more advanced course, we’ve
responded with this new workshop.
Diesel Engine 201 is perfect for
boaters who have lots of practical
experience, have attended a previous
Diesel Workshop, or who simply
need a refresher on diesel engine
theory and maintenance. The
course will have an emphasis on
troubleshooting and understanding
your marine diesel and your trawler.
Although this is a lecture-style class,
there will be plenty of discussion
and Q&A, as well. The cost for this
unique half-day course is $175.
After two days of in-depth
learning at PMU, we hope you will
join us for Trawler Fest Feb. 26–28.
There will be plenty to see and do
