INTERLUX
INTRODUCES PACIFICA,
A NEW ANTIFOULING COATING
Responding to many customer
requests, particularly in Southern
California, Interlux has introduced
Pacifica, a new antifouling that
provides an alternative to boat
owners, boatyards, and those in
the boating community looking for
a copper-free antifouling paint to
reduce copper accumulation.
“Pacifica does not contain copper
and uses a controlled biocide
release mechanism to combat
fouling,” said Bob Donat, Interlux’s
vice president of marketing.
“What’s more, Pacifica meets
the most stringent VOC [volatile
organic compound] regulations
in California. Boatyards will love
the fast-dry properties of Pacifica,
which allow boats to be painted
and launched the same day.”
Pacifica erodes away over time
but is tough enough to hold up
to regular cleanings if necessary.
Because it wears away with use,
the performance of Pacifica is
Interlux Pacifica
directly related to the amount of
paint applied. Pacifica is for use on
recreational or commercial vessels
below the waterline, on underwater
boat hulls, and on parts in fresh,
salt, and brackish water. It can be
brushed, rolled, or sprayed on.
Pacifica can be applied over most
other antifouling paints, provided
they are in good condition and
have been cleaned and sanded.
Pacifica is available in clean,
crisp, bright colors including blue,
black, and white and is compatible
with most other antifouling paints.
Being copper free, Pacifica is ideal
for use on all underwater metal
surfaces, including aluminum,
fiberglass, and wood. The high-solids, low-VOC formula of Pacifica
has proven effective for powerboats
and sailboats.
The retail price is $200 per
gallon. For more information on
Pacifica or any Interlux product,
