WASHBURN’S
BOAT YARD
We bought Chapter III in early 2004, as our first
boat and her log noted she had undergone
commissioning and warranty work at Washburn's
Boat Yard with the first owners. Our aim in retirement has been to join the full time cruising community on the East Coast. The next four years
found us following the good weather north to Maine
and Canada and south to Florida and the Bahamas,
in their turn. But, the Chesapeake, Solomons and
WBY were always constants in our travels. Some
18,000 NM later we have just established a land
home just up the creek from their yard and the
cruising continues in 2008-2009.
At Washburn's, Chris has assembled a dream
team of professionals. Their strengths are with the
trawler community, where cruising experience in
senior management mixes well with current
technical and artistic talent at the working level.
As a frequent visitor to the site, their attention to detail and care for the craft was always evident. They met all
our expectations and more. Whether it was a short haul on their new travel lift, refilling our spare parts list
from their store or the exquisite Awl-Grip paint job on the hull, this team has proven both timely and reasonably priced. So our message is clear; if you are a serious cruiser and need to spend some time in the yard, you
should consider Washburn's in Solomons, MD.
